An electronic device that has the ability to store,
retrieve, and process data, and can be programmed with instructions that it
remembers. The physical parts that make up a computer (the central processing
unit, input, output, and memory) are called hardware.
A computer is general-purpose machine that processes
data. The data is processed according to a set of instructions known as
programs. The computer and all equipment attached to it are called hardware.
The computer is a form of hardware and the programs are known as software.
Originally, the term referred to a person who did
mathematical calculations using a mechanical calculation device or an analogue
computer. Today, the term 'computer' refers to the electronic machine that is
able to store, process and manipulate data.
